In climbing I do things that I enjoy and want to do not the ones that are currently in fashion.

Novelties of the 2012 OutDoor fair - Apparel and Shoes

We'd like to present the detailed description of the most interesting pieces of clothing and models of shoes presented during this year's OutDoor fair in Friedrichshafen.

WILDFIRE by Salewa

One of the winners in the Apparel/Helmet/Shoes category. This innovative approach shoe can be best characterized by its lightweight, anatomical fit, and an aggressive out sole tread design. According to the designers of Wildfire, the shoe can be worn easily by mountains athletes in quick approaches to the wall with its sturdy fit and maximal feel for the ground, inspired by the precise fit of climbing shoes. The model out sole is made of the new Vibram® Tech Approach Evo providing optimal support and grip on technically demanding terrain and approaches, fulfilling all of the wishes of passionate alpinists. The patent-protected Salewa 3D System is a warranty of flexibility, ankle protection and precision in fit simultaneously offering wearing Comfort. The seamless upper is made of a reinforced ballistic mesh with a Shell of innovative EXA Technology, which makes it light and abrasion resistant. In its trend, Wildfire is inspired by the „less is more” trend and comes off minimalistic. There are two versions available, one of them with the Gore-Tex membrane applied for waterproof wear and good breathability.

TevaSphere Speed by Teva

One of the winners in the Apparel/Helmet/Shoes category. Designed by Deckers Outdoor Corporation, manufactured by Tatonka GmbH. This is a multi-purpose sport shoe designed under the  “change your shoe not your stride” slogan to meet the performance needs of the outdoor athlete with the aid of a spherical heel and pod-arch system providing the user with a more natural point of impact, efficient transition and superior stability on varied terrain. The pod-arch system provides specific support only where needed without restricting freedom of movement or adding unnecessary weight to the shoe. Teva spent four years developing the TevaSphere technology in order to solve the problem of diverse range of terrain and obstacles that outdoor athletes have to face in their pursuit. The shoe came into being in collaboration with Peak Performance Project (P3) institute and through extensive testing. The TevaSphere outsole is composed of Spider365 Rubber that provides supreme traction on various terrains. Additionally, the quick-dry materials and breathable waterproof membrane were applied. The collection’s aestethics makes the shoes look great both on the trail and the sidewalk. It is inspired by structural minimalism with non-sew synthetics, flexible mesh and vibrant color providing the potential user with a versatile look.

Gram Comp Pull by Haglöfs

One of the winners in the Apparel/Helmet/Shoes category. Gram Comp Pull is designed with ruthless minimalism. Every detail has a function and a raison d'être, each carefully selected to reduce weight and focus on functionality. Gram Comp Pull is probably the lightest hooded Gore-Tex ™ Active Shell jacket ever made and it weighs only about 200 g in men's size M. As it it stated by the strategic design manager at Haglöfs, Fredrik Lundberg, "The simplest things can sometimes be the hardest to create.” The jacket was engineered from Just two pieces of fabric for the moin body, which saves weight and adds breathability. The jacket was manufactured of the Active Shell fabric instead of Paclite, which makes it less plammy against the skin.
