OutDoor Industry Award 2007
During this year's trade fair in Friedrichshafen, an international jury presented 1 gold, 6 silver and 23 bronze awards for outstanding performances at the second OutDoor Industry Award. The awarded products were chosen from 204 entries from 21 countries.
The jury members called the products radical innovations, that can be inspiration for the outdoor industry.
The winner was the foldable climbing helmet "Madillo" by Edelrid (Germany).
“This product is a 360-degree innovation. The entire product was newly thought out and therefore newly invented. Helmets used to be essentially just metal pots in one shape or another. This product is completely astonishing and displays just what makes a true consumer product – it’s a pot that folds up."
The six silver awarded products are:
Fastener "Big Turn Catch All" by Fidlock GmbH (Germany) - Fastener with a functional magnetic system
Harness "R 320" by Arc'teryx (Canada) - "Aesthetically pleasing design solution with perfect functionality"
Treatment method for black textiles "ColdBlack", invented by Schoeller Textil AG (Switzerland) - "Special treatment technology for handling black fabrics. It ensures that black materials do not warm up too much under heat and expend heat in the cold."
Trail running shoes "Carbon Fyre" by the Timberland Company (USA) - “An innovative shoe consisting of a plastic-barbed sole, which prevents slipping on mountainsides"
Mountaineering shoes "Radikal" by Millet (France) - "The shoes impress with their successful mix of materials. All parts and materials come together well and look good."
Outdoor multi-cooker "Primus EtaPower MF" by Primus (Sweden) - "This is a complete cooking set, whose low weight minimizes the total backpack load and also works extremely efficiently."
