Dave Graham on White Noise and
Matty Hong on Mind 2 Motion
The fresh and warm realization by Daniel Woods has cooled down a little bit as it has recently gained its third ascent. The talk is about nothing but White Noise and nobody but Dave Graham, who’s been indulging in what the Wild Basin area has to offer already for quite long. The famous traverse was also repeated by Matty Hong, who proposed the grade of 8B+. Graham struggled with the boulder and the weather conditions for about seven days and after final successful attempt he did not hesitate and agreed with Woods, saying that the problem seemed to him much harder than 8B+’s he’d already done and deserves the 8C grading.

Rumor has it that the boulder was spotted by Graham some time ago before he went for a longer trip to Australia and Africa. However his idea was to manage the problem from left to right. Woods and Hong got interested in the boulder some time later and started trying the other way round, which resulted in the first and second ascent.
And speaking of Woods-Hong team… Matty Hong has recently proved his strength by making a quiet ascent of Warrior Up 8B+ (or 8C) at Lincoln Lake. In the first two weeks of October not only did he add aforementioned White Noise but also made the 2nd ascent of another extreme problem by Woods, this time Mind 2 Motion 8B+, also in Rocky Mountain National Park.
