Mina Leslie-Wujastyk – the first female to climb Tetris 8A+
The Wild Basin area seems to get more and more popular among the top male and female boulderers.* The recent performance of Mina Leslie-Wujastyk, who also decided to visit the spot may be a proof for that. The British managed to make the first female ascent of Tetris 8A+. This is Mina’s second boulder of this grade, previously she was successfull at Mind Matters located at Guanella Pass. The 25-year old seems to be progressing very quickly, espacially if we consider the fact that the original grade of Tetris, proposed by the author himself, Dave Graham, was 8B. The boulder difficulty got downgraded after Jimmy Webb and Jon Cardwell had found some easier beta. Still, other climbers’ suggestions were more reserved as the proposed grade was more often mixed 8A+/B rather than 8A+ only. Mina is currently also one of the Britain’s strongest female rope climber, as she made the ascent of legendary Mecca 8b+ in Raven Tor in September this year. That’s the best female rope ascent in the history of the UK climbing, apart from Lucy Cramer’s success on Kalea Borroka 8b+, Siurana, Spain.

*Recently, we’ve heard about the Wild Basin area thanks to Daniel Woods and his outstanding 8C (8B+) traverse boulder White Noise which not so long ago was repeated by Matty Hong. Also Dave Graham decided to activate himself in the Rocky Mountain National Park and as a result we could read about his several 8B/B+ ascents, including Tetris.
