Contour Shock Elliptic Trekking Pole

For the summer of 2008, Black Diamond has equipped the Contour telescoping trekking pole with the innovative Control Shock Technology. This four-level vibration-dampening module absorbs impacts of different intensity, reduces fatigue and offers more comfort. The Contour features an extremely stiff elliptic shaft cross-section. Its two FlickLock® systems make it fast, simple and reliable to adjust – a dependable performer to accompany you on rough ground and remote trails.

The all new Control Shock Technology does not pass impacts on to your wrists, but absorbs them at four levels, significantly dampening jarring and jolting.

Level 1: Light Strike Control. Small impacts are dampened in the upper plastic bellows, jarring in muscles and bones is reduced.

Level 2: Progressive Absorption. Medium impacts are progressively dampened in the upper and lower plastic bellows.

Level 3: Heavy Load Dampener. Hard impacts and loads are reduced progressively in the strongest, middle compression ring. It prevents jolts when the dampening systems hit their stops.

Level 4: Controlled Rebound. An air valve inside the handle controls recoil and prevents “pogo effect,” a bouncing back of the pole.

Our patented Control Shock System is absolutely noise free, smooth and weighs only 28 grams. Just like the proven Black Diamond FlickLock adjustment system, it is visible from outside, easy to understand and persuasive.
Besides Control Shock Technology, the Contour Shock Elliptic trekking pole offers some more features that enhance reliable function and comfort. Our Elliptic Technology makes it almost twice as stiff longitudinally as round poles. Due to the elliptic shaft shape, the two Elliptic FlickLock adjustment systems allow locking at the correct length without rotation or slipping. They are easily operated due to a larger lever that locks the system reliably. A dual-density grip hand rest gives more control and comfort in descent. The foam non-slip grip features an elongated grip with a finger rest. The Nubuk leather wrist loops are pleasantly padded for their entire length. Long flex tips and small, non-snagging trekking baskets are standard.
