Express Ice Screw - More Bite
Black Diamond Express Ice Screws have been redesigned for the 2007/08 season. Upgraded tooth geometry makes that first turn – until the screw bites – easier. A bigger, conical crank handle speeds up the placement and a second clipping eye makes switching over at belays easier.
Placing Black Diamond Express Ice Screws has now become even easier, faster and more precise. Improved tooth geometry makes placing these screws much easier. Conventional ice screws need to turn 360°, but human hands can only turn 270°. That made one-handed placements almost impossible. The new Express Ice Screw has teeth that are 15% longer, which makes starting them with one hand feasible. The screw body is conical, reducing resistance when turning as well as breakage of the ice around the screw. Express Ice Screws make for stronger protection and greatly enhanced safety on ice!
The bigger, conical crank handle simplifies and speeds up continuous 360° revolutions. The second clipping point makes swapping leads easier and reduces leverage in overhanging pitches. Lighter hangers are made from stainless steel and absorb less heat on sunny routes. Even with all those new details Black Diamond has managed to make the Express Ice Screw lighter than its predecessors.
Express Ice Screws are CE certified and patented. They come in five lengths (10, 13, 16, 19 and 22 cm). Colour coded crank handles make finding the right screw faster. The colour scheme for the various lengths code corresponds with that of Black Diamond Camalots – that’s a simple and convincing concept. Express Ice Screws are available at a suggested retail price from 44,90 – 49,90 Euro.
