In climbing I do things that I enjoy and want to do not the ones that are currently in fashion.

Oz Ultralight Carabiner

The world’s lightest carabiner by Black Diamond

Black Diamond sets new parameters in carabiner design with its new Oz carabiner. At only 28 grams (1 oz), it is the world’s lightest fully functional wiregate carabiner. The Oz Quickdraw, a combination of Oz carabiners with the new light 10 mm Dynex Dogbone, is a must-have for any climber or alpinist who values light weight.

Built on the design of the successful Neutrino carabiner, the Oz is as strong and durable but much lighter. At only 28 grams (1 oz) the breaking force is 20 kN in the major axis, 7 kN in the minor axis. With the gate open, it is 8 kN.

All Black Diamond carabiners are tested with the 3 Sigma method. This test guarantees the user that the indicated breaking forces will be achieved in 99.7% of all cases for each and every carabiner, much more than the CE norm.
The Oz has a suggested retail price of Euro 9.99.

As the new Oz Quickdraw, the Oz stars in the ultimate light weight combo of this season. The 63 gram set consists of two Oz carabiners and the new ultralight 10 mm Dogbone Dynex with a Straitjacket (a rubber ring that prevents the lower carabiner from shifting). The carabiners in the quickdraw are supplied in two colours, Polished for the upper and Anthracite for the lower carabiner. So you can tell even better which carabiner belongs on the rope and which one into the bolt hanger. The new 10 mm Dynex slings are used in all Black Diamond quickdraws. They are very thin, extremely durable and 30% lighter than the usual 12 mm slings. The tighter weave improves stiffness, but the low pack volume remains.
