In climbing I do things that I enjoy and want to do not the ones that are currently in fashion.

Novelties of the 2012 OutDoor fair - Backpacks and Camping Accessories

We'd like to present the detailed description of the most interesting models of backpacks and pieces of camping accessories presented during this year's OutDoor fair in Friedrichshafen.

SPINE by Bergans

One of the winners in the Backpacks/Travel luggage category. Brought to you by Bergans of Norway, SPINE is a new innovative carrying system designed with a view to natural motion. SPINE is advertised as a Simple and elegant solution to a complex technical problem. Anchoring the pack at the center of the torso, a helix-shaped spring steel frame allows hips and shoulders to move naturally and completely independently. The patent-pending SPINE system incorporates not only pivoting hip belts but also the twisting of the torso, letting the body bend, stretch and twist freely in an unpararelled freedom of motion. The backpacks to which the SPINE system was applied are available in two volumes, 55 and 70 l, and in three torso lengths to fit a wide range of users.

Therm-a-Rest LuxuryL by Cascade Designs

One of the winners in the Camping equipment category. Only 0.9 kg of weight makes the UltraLite™ model the lightest sleeping cot on the market. Another impressive aspect is the packing system which makes the cot super small afterwards. The patented technology applied is called BowFrame™ and it is used in order to eliminate the painful crossbars, squeaky joint and broken hardware found in other cots. Durable construction is achieved with laminated nylon cover – waterproof and stretch-free. The poles are made of anonized aluminium, whereas durable nylon feet stand up to heavy use. According to the manufacturer, Cascade Designs, the cot is quick and easy to assemble and the whole process lasts approximately only 3 minutes. The UltraLite Cot™ offers the Comfort you need at a weight and packed size that seems impossible to beat.
