PAK5 3-layer jacket by Fjällräven
Lightweight and hardwearing
When you boil it down, a shell jacket has to be waterproof, hardwearing, breathable - and light. Trekking in the mountains may offer everything from 20 degrees sun to snow, all in the same day. You need a jacket which can easily be put on and off as the weather changes. At the same time it should take only small space in your pack. Further, the jacket should last for many years of hard use.
Lightweight: The jacket weighs 298 grams which makes it a very light 3-layer membrane product. Everything causing weight has been taken off: The design is intentionally made with a minimal number of seams, which normally add weight both in tape or thread. A reduced waist cord further minimizes weight without compromising function. Velcro at the cuffs is reduced to an indispensable minimum.
Abrasion: The shell fabric is made of 100% nylon, which is much more abrasion resistant compared to polyester more commonly used.
Breathability: The jacket is made of Hydratic IQ. This innovation by Fjällräven is a PU-membrane which adjusts the level of breathability to the inside temperature of the jacket. The harder you work in the jacket, the more it will breathe.
