Ama Dablam: Mammut’s Top Set for Women Mountaineers
Mammut’s hardcore Ama Dablam alpine jacket/pant set represents everything a
woman could want in terms of technical quality, high-performance insulation and
design, wrapped up in a high-tech Gore-Tex® 3-layer body-mapping package.
Women’s wear is nothing new to Mammut – the collections have been catering to the female body for years. When it came to designing the latest Women’s Winter Collection, though, the company focused even more closely on the physical and anatomical differences between men and women. The result? A completely autonomous line of sports apparel for the female mountaineer. It’s stylish and feminine, but features exactly the same class-leading performance as the equivalent men’s garments. Because women tend to feel the cold more than men, they need different materials for enhanced insulation. This is where Gore Comfort Mapping comes in: Parts of the body that feel the cold more – the kidneys, shoulders, knees and buttocks – now benefit from a pleasantly warm Gore-Tex® waffle fleece fabric. Additional warmth comes courtesy of Lycra® hand gaiters for the wrists, plus a zip-off kidney belt on the pants.
As you would expect, the Mammut high-altitude / ski touring jacket and pant set for ambitious mountaineers also offers all the technical features needed for conquering the world’s summits. The adjustable, helmet-compatible hood can be worn with or without helmet. High-reach sleeves allow for plenty of freedom of movement and offer protection and warmth on vertical climbs. Enclosed collar adjusters and collar zippers mean an end to long hair getting entangled. And for rapid access to topos and the like, the extra pocket is not on the chest but on the arm.
