New 8c+ Route in Slovenia
In the crag of Bohinjska Bela, Slovenia, Slovenian climber Matej Sova equipped a project back in 1999 but due to the often wet hold on the crucial part of the route he didn't manage to climb it.

Germans redpoint Hotel Supramonte
Christian Bindhammer and Damaris Knorr are the first Germans to redpoint the 400m Hotel Supramonte (8b) in Sardinia.

Remarkable repeats of Free Rider
Stephanie Bodet from France redpointed Free Rider (VI 5.12d) on El Cap. It was second female free ascent of the 37-pitch line in the Yosemite Valley.

Claudio Caffè 8c+ by Angela Eiter
Austrian Angela Eiter, one of the most succesful competition female climbers, redpointed Claudio Cafè 8c+ at Arco. She graded this variation as 8c+ and called it her hardest redpointed route ever.

Another 8c+ for Josune Bereziartu
Another great success for basque climber Josune Bereziartu. This week she climbed the route Powerade 8c+ in Vadiello region of Sierra de Guara (Huesca, Spain).

The 4th Ascent of La Rambla
La Rambla – one of the most famous routes in the world. It's also one of the hardest and longest... Together with Realization in Ceüse they're the only routes in the world with a confirmed 9a+ grade, which only few climbers could climb.

Another 8c for Ola Taistra
On April 5, Ola Taistra from Poland did her another 8c, leading Die Hard 8c in Gabbio (Ferentillo region, Italy). It’s already her third route of this grade, but first climbed outside Poland. Here also you can see unique photos of Ola Taistra on Die Hard.

Ice climbing above the Polar Circle

Mammut Expedition to Malaysia
91 routes in nine days – this is the result of this year’s mission to Malaysia organized by Mammut. David Lama and Reini Scherer, who participated in the mission took over a week to carve out two completely new climbing sectors in the State of Perlis.

Polish team climbs Subiendo el Arcoiris


On March 13, a Polish team of climbers Eliza Kubarska and David Kaszlikowski redpointed the route Subiendo el Arcoiris 5.13b in the Basaseachic National Park in Chihuahua state, Mexico.

Dave Graham repeats Eclatamasters 9a
Dave Graham has made the second ascent of Esclatamasters 9a at Perles in Spain.It took him 8 tries over 4 days spread over four and a half months to climb the line which he described as beautiful with perfect blue rock. This was Dave's 6th route which is 9a or harder.

New Speed Record on Eiger
Swiss Ueli Steck set up a new solo speed record on Eiger North face with 3 hours 41 minutes (47 minutes less than the last record by Christoph Heinz).

Golazo Finally Repeated
Russian-Ukrainian team has made the second ascent of Golazo (5.10 A4+, 1200 m, 25 pitches), the 1999 Steve Schneider’s route on the east face of Central Tower of Paine, Patagonia.

Several people criticized me for participating in the Piolet d’Or ceremony this year. None of them were in Grenoble. Joining this circus gave me the opportunity to present my opinion about the award publicly.

Harrington Joins 8c Women Club
On January 27 Emily Harrington repeated Burning Down the House 5.14b (8c) at Jailhouse (Senora, California).
