16th Piolet d’Or goes to Slovenian Team

16th Piolet d’Or Nominees Announced
Five climbing teams have been nominated for the 16th Piolet d’Or, known as well as "The Golden Axe", a prestigious award for the "best" mountaineering ascent of the year. The winner will be announced in Grenoble, France, in late January.

Adam Ondra sends Silbergeier 8b+
July 27, young Czech climber Adam Ondra sent the route Silbergeier 8b+ in Rätikon, the Alps region in Switzerland and Austria. Two days later he sent another hard multi-pitch rout Zub za zub 8b+ in one day attempt. |

Alex Huber opens Pan Aroma 8c
Alex Huber, accompanied by Max Reichel and Franz Hinterbrandner, completed the first ascent of a new route on Cima Ovest di Lavadero in the Dolomites. Huber graded Pan Aroma 8b and described it as one of the most impressing climbing formations on the world. |

Andrada’s 9a+ repeated!
The Spaniard Tico Lois has made the second ascent of one of the Europe’s hardest sport climbs, Definicion de Resistencia Democrata 9a+. The route is a linkup of two routes (Definición de acción 8c and Esencia de resistencia 8c/c+) at the limestone cave Terradets and it was established last year by Daniel Andrada. |

Another 8c for Ola Taistra
On April 5, Ola Taistra from Poland did her another 8c, leading Die Hard 8c in Gabbio (Ferentillo region, Italy). It’s already her third route of this grade, but first climbed outside Poland.
